CONFERENCES

Hello Everyone!!

Thank you so much for attending conferences this past week. It was nice to see all of you and it gave me a change to discuss your child's outstanding progress in my class. I have had such a wonderful year working with the seventh and eighth graders and feel blessed to have such supportive parents.

Also, a BIG thank you to the Bromley PTO and all of the BECS families who brought in homemade meals for the teachers. We truly appreciate your kindness!!

Be sure to keep up-to-date on your child's grades through Infinite Campus. The end of the quarter is quickly approaching!!

Looking forward to another fabulous week!

February Week 2

Spanish 1A

This week my Spanish 1A students wrote their 3rd letter to their Epals in Ecuador. Students were allowed to write this email in English so that they were able to discuss Mrs. Thomas' presentation and ask their epals about what it is like to live in Ecuador.

Students also began chapter 3B in their textbooks. This particular chapter focuses on dinner foods and students will have many opportunities to review their vocabulary and grammar from chapter 3A.

Spanish 1B

While most of the 8th grade students are away at Sea Camp, the rest of us had fun working as Spanish Realtors. Students were given a week-long project in which they were asked to find a home for sale in a Spanish speaking country, create a flyer or Power Point Presentation in Spanish advertising the best features of this home, and the give a short presentation in Spanish to interested buyers (their fellow classmates). The students did a fantastic job on this assignment and learned many new vocabulary terms in the process that go along with chapter 6B in our text.

Nuestra Fiesta

Here are a few photos from Spanish class this Thursday. We had an amazing time learning about Ecuador, trying new foods, listening to a variety of music, and even trying a few moves out on the "dance floor"!! A HUGE thank you to Jhazmin (Torres) Thomas for volunteering her time to come and educate ALL 6 classes. The students LOVED having her!!

Una Fiesta de Baile

This Thursday, February 2nd, we will welcome Jhazmin Thomas to our Spanish class!! Jhazmin will be coming to each class to teach our students a little bit about her home country, Ecuador, as well as introduce the students to different styles of music and give them a mini dance lesson. To make this lesson more like a traditional FIESTA, we kindly ask that each family make a $1.00 DONATION so that we can provide our students with a real life FIESTA!

*Please check back later on this week for photos and video clips of our students in action :).

Leader in Me Buddy Program: A Win-Win!!

8th grade students visited Mrs. Cole's Pre-K classroom this Friday to teach Spanish colors and help the little ones create a Bilingual Colors Book. This new Buddy program coincides with Leader in Me, a program our school adopted this year to teach our students how to be leaders in the school, in the community, and in life. This partnership is truly a Win-Win!!
